Running Successfully Rebooted!

On Sunday, May 5 over 50 runners gathered on a bright but chilly day to participate in the second annual Reboot Run, an event hosted by the BLT Runners.

The Reboot Run is a free group run with the aim of encouraging runners to re-start their running routines, especially if winter conditions have put a damper on running. The event is held on the Chain of Lakes Trail which is kept clear of snow and ice during the winter. Participants run/jog/walk for 24 minutes and are greeted at the finish with a warm cup of hot chocolate. Participants also participate in a prize draw made possible through generous sponsor donations.

“With spring around the corner, the first weekend in March is a perfect time to hold this event,” said Craig Durling, President of the BLT Runners. “While some of our members run consistently during the winter, we understand it is hard to stick with running though less than ideal conditions. Slippery and unclear sidewalks, storms, cold weather and a lack of daylight make winter running tough. This run is a great way to re-introduce people to running in a supportive setting and also hopefully encourage new members to join our club.”

The event was made possible in part with support from businesses. Starbucks Chain Lake donated a 5 gallon thermos, hot water, cups and stir sticks for hot chocolate. Draw prize donations were received from Nova Physiotherapy, the Halifax Running Room, Mizuno Canada, and Tiux.
