The Chris Morrison Memorial Run/Walk, organized by friend Renee Newell-Boucher and Chris’s family, will be held on Sunday, August 9th.
Chris Morrison was a dedicated family man with a kind heart and a generous soul. He was a lover of fitness whose remarkable wit could brighten even the most strenuous game, run or training session.
On May 2, just shy of his 47th birthday, Chris became a legacy to those he knew, forever remembered as someone who made you want to do better and be a reason to make people smile.
Now that Covid restrictions have eased it is time to have a memorial gathering for our friend. While NS is allowing groups to gather, appropriately distanced, we can come together to remember.
On August 9th, Renee Newell-Boucher and Chris’s family are organizing a memorial run/walk event. There will be two time slots; 4pm and 6pm.
Where: On the BLT rail trail system, starting beyond the Bluff Wilderness Trail parking lot. (2890 St. Margaret’s Bay Rd.)
- Turn right onto the trail from the parking lot and stop before the overpass, approximately 500 meters away. This is a larger open space which will allow for the group to spread out safely.
- From here we will walk to the entrance to the Bluff Wilderness Trail. This will be the location of a bench to be placed in Chris’ memory. Though the bench may not yet be in place, we will hold the event while lifted restrictions allow. There will be time to share some memories and then continue on the trail for a 15 minute out, 15 minute return, run/walk at your own pace.
This event welcomes all who wish to join.
In order to gauge numbers and gather safely, we ask that you RSVP to one time slot and indicate how many people will attend. Please do so at: Chris.firstname.lastname@example.org
Please note: Attendees will be expected to maintain appropriate social distance. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please take the precautions that make you feel safe.
